A tie or necktie is a long piece of cloth worn for decorative purposes around the neck or shoulders, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the throat. Variants include the ascot tie, bow tie, bolo tie, zipper tie, cravat and the clip-on tie. The modern necktie, ascot, and bow tie are descended from the cravat. Neck ties are generally unsized, but may be available in a longer size. Men and boys wear neckties as part of regular office attire or formal wear. Neckties can also be worn as part of a uniform (e.g. military, school and waitstaff), whereas some choose to wear them as everyday clothing attire. Neckties are traditionally worn with the top shirt button fastened, and the tie knot resting comfortably between the collar points. Among younger men, neckties are sometimes worn as a casual item, tied loosely around the neck, with the top shirt button unfastened. (Wikipedia)

F stands for fetching - and fast.
No matter how exciting a manufacturer’s latest models may be, some marques will always be associated with a particular automobile from the past. Despite brilliant recent offerings, Aston Martin will forever be connected to the timeless silver DB5 driven by James Bond in the film Goldfinger (and recently reprised in Skyfall). Jeep and Land Rover have both expanded their lines into very luxurious, state-of-the-art SUVs, yet the first thing the names evoke is their rugged, original off-road warriors. And Jaguar, even though its uniquely styled sedans have gained considerable fame, will always be tied to its sensual E-type roadsters, especially the V-12-powered versions that were as technically fascinating as they were stunning to gaze upon. Jaguar has subtly embraced the lure of this timeless classic, blended it with the latest Jaguar concept exercises, and created the all-new F-type roadster.

Top 10 Most Notable Witch Trials

Though having mutated into a term with a wholly metaphorical meaning today, ‘Witch Hunt’ has origins both un-ancient and un-settling. Surfacing in centuries passed as a name for those accused of the ability of harnessing certain dark magic or unholy powers*, Witch is a word still which has survived in popular culture. Today, it’s a word that you may associate with the annual festival of Halloween, or better yet several of the movies pivotal in shaping its contemporary connotations, such as ‘The Wizard of OZ’ or even, I suppose, ‘Hocus Pocus’. The more public affairs’ oriented of us may identify with the worrying reports of real life ‘Witch Hunts’ taking place in lesser developed parts of Africa upon hearing the term uttered. As interesting and conversation provoking as all of this is, we’re here for a more specific reason. Namely, to identify some of the more notable Witch Hunts to have taken place throughout history. Most of the following is derived from accounts dating back to post-Medieval era Europe (1600-1800), though admittedly there is an extremely famous North American case thrown in their for good measure. While maybe slightly entertaining now, one may only imagine the circumstances which called for such drastic consequence, and in turn be thankful for the seemingly more evolved era which we call home.

Over the course of planet Earths history, it has played host to some particularly monumental conflicts. While the nature of all life itself is one that provokes a ‘survival of the fittest’ ethos in order to ensure longevity and prosperity, it is undeniable that human beings are the species responsible for the most adverse, unnatural and impactful change to have occurred on this planet during the last few millennia. Whether or not it is written into our very genetics to always be involved in some form of conflict with our fellow man, anyone would be hard-pushed to recall a time when there was peace in every corner of the world. Whilst the majority of conflicts cause widespread hardship and suffering, many remain localized to a particular area, wherein they remain boxed off, eventually sizzling out or continuing until they are ended through an intervention of some kind. The most destructive cases of war and conflict are undoubtedly those which include, by choice or not, the most amount of nations, governments or people. Whilst the last century has noted the first two hostilities ever to be considered as ‘world wars’, history is full of accounts of conflicts involving, or at least effecting, just as many people. Let’s take a look at some of man-kinds most destructive eras.
